News for the Week of 10/12/16

PARENTS AND STUDENTS!
St. Mary's School Day
at St. Mary's Parish is this Sunday - 10/16/17!
YOUR ATTENDANCE IS REQUESTED - PLEASE RSVP

For the first time since a Catholic Schools Week celebration MANY years ago,  St. Mary's School students are invited to worship together at Sunday Mass. Father Matera has extended this invitation in the hope that we will present a large body of children and families to give witness to the awesome spiritual life here at the school.

The date for this grand event is Sunday, October 16th at the 11am Mass. We truly hope that as many people as possible will join us. Although we would truly prefer that this be a “regrets only” event, we would like people to let us know that they plan to attend so that we can plan for seating for the students. Students will sit together and teachers will be here to supervise. PreKindergarten students are more than welcome to attend but they will sit with their families. Students in Kindergarten - 8 should attend in the relaxed uniform (pressed and neat, of course). Students are asked to report to the lower church at 10:40am to practice the song they will sing as a Communion reflection with Mrs. Jalinskas.

As part of the celebratory tone of the day, there will be a simple reception in the Parish Center following the Mass. If you would like to contribute a baked good, please send an email to smsoffice@stmarysimsbury.eduk12.net.

RSVP HERE - Please click here to RSVP for Mass and to indicate if you would like to help with the reception. Those able to help will be contacted to discuss details for the reception.

Campus Connection Update - Many of you may remember the exciting announcement of the Campus Connection Project last year.  In his email invitation to this Sunday's Mass, Father Matera attached a Campus Connection Update and a copy of his homily from last weekend that provides important information about this project.  Click here to review this Campus Connection Update.  Click here to read Father's homily.

Important Uniform Announcement!  Students in Kindergarten - Grade 7 will begin to wear the formal uniform on Tuesday, November 1.  Students in 8th grade are given the privilege of wearing the relaxed uniform until December 1.

Please note that there are 2 important changes to our formal uniform code:

1.  Iron Knee Lands' End Straight Leg Pain-front Chino Pants in NAVY are now a formal uniform option for girls in Kindergarten - Grade 8.  Please note that the navy pants are a formal uniform option.  They do not replace the skirt or jumper.  Both the skirt (for girls in grades 5 and up) and the jumper (for grades K-4)  are still acceptable. The navy pants are acceptable uniform attire for days we are attending Mass.   Lands' End is in the process of updating our school code so that the navy pants will appear as an available option when you shop using our school code.  Until this update is complete, you may order the correct style of pants using the following item numbers:

Little Girl - 442873-JUX        $30
Little Girl Slim - 442874-JU4 $30
Girl - 442875-JU9                   $30
Girl Slim - 442876-JU3          $30
Girl Plus - 442877-JU8          $30
Junior - 404343-JU5              $40
Women 6-16 - 403664-JU3   $40
Thank you for purchasing only this style of pants in navy from Lands' End.

2.  Flannel pajama pants may NO LONGER BE WORN beneath the formal uniform skirt or jumper for morning arrival or recess. Navy or white tights or navy blue sweatpants may be worn.

Just in time for formal uniform shopping, Lands' End is offering 40% off all school uniform items.   The promo starts tomorrow, 10/13 and runs through next Monday, 10/17.  Our school uniform code is 9001-3215-0.
