COVID 19 Update regarding masks acceptable for use during the school day and at school functions/activitiesPer the Farmington Valley Health District and the Simsbury Board of Education,  acceptable masks are those with a 2 ply fabric or a medical mask.  No vented masks, bandannas, or scarves.  Head straps can be used to avoid ear irritation.


Helpful Screening Tool for School Attendance -
 The Farmington Valley Board of Health and the Simsbury Public School's Health Services have developed a helpful graphic that provides a series of screening questions to review when considering if a child is well enough for school.  The second page provides guidelines for when a student may return to school after illness. This information is available for download and print here and also on the COVID-19 page of our website.


Join Us on Friday, August 28, for "Meet & Greet" - All students in PK3, PreK, K -8 and a parent/caregiver are invited to stop in for a brief supply drop off and introductory visit.  Families have been divided alphabetically into 9 groups with assigned times.  Please check your email for important directions regarding arrival and procedures.  These directions are important to assure health and safety guidelines are followed.

This is a great opportunity to see your classroom, meet your teacher and drop off your school supplies.  You may also hand in any completed "Back to School" forms.    Dress is casual but please wear clothing appropriate for the school setting.  Please enter and exit through the appropriate exterior classroom door.  There will be signage to direct you.  All students and parent/guardians in the building must wear a mask.   


Our first day of school is Monday, August 31, for all students except PK3's.  (PK3 students will begin on Tuesday, September 1.) This will be a regular, full day of school with both Early Drop Off and Aftercare available. Both Early Drop Off and Aftercare will be held in the Parish Center at least to start this year.  Registration and Reservation Forms are available - Early Drop Off   - Aftercare



Lunch Program - Weekly Order Period for Lunches from Tuesday, 9/8 - Friday, 9/11 - Orders for lunches for the week of 9/8, may be placed via the Educonnect Parent Portal from Monday, 8/31/20 - Thursday, 9/3/20.  Please note that NO LATE ORDERS CAN BE ACCEPTED.  If you miss the order period, you will need to wait for the following week.  Payment should be sent in promptly after completing your order.  All students should bring a lunch from home during the first week of school: Monday, 8/31 - Friday, 9/4.

SMS Stars - Excellent summer sports news to report:  2 SMS students were awarded top honors from The U14 Connecticut Elite Baseball Association:  James Fagnant SMS Class of '20 -MVPMax W., Gr. 8 - Top Pitcher

Both boys played for the Simsbury U14 team. Their team went undefeated for the season and topped South Windsor with a 10-0 score to take the  Championship.
