News for the Week of 10/20/16

Important Calendar Notes for next week, the week of 10/24/16:
Monday, 10/24, is a regular full day of school.

Friday, 10/26, is a 12:45 early dismissal for a Teacher In-Service.  There will be NO PreKindergarten Enrichment or Aftercare available.

Students in Mrs. Mortillaro's 4th grade created this
beautiful Student Pledge bulletin board.

Chess Club is cancelled this Friday, October 21st.  We will let you know when a make-up date is selected.

Carpool Safety Reminder -  Our carpool lot is a busy place in the morning and we appreciate that everyone is trying to drop off and get on with a busy day.  Nonetheless, it is important that everyone exercise caution and adhere to the safety rules we have put in place.  This is particularly true because our students encompass a wide age range and some of our youngest students are only 4 and have just started to get accustomed to being "dropped off" and walking to their "line".

Please keep in mind that if you drop off your child(ren) and there are cars in front of you still unloading, you MAY NOT pull around these vehicles to exit.  Please wait until the cars in front of yours pull forward to exit before you do so.  We realize this may result in a delay in your departure but these few minutes help assure that all of our students are safe.  Thank you for your cooperation.

We will worship with our Parish family at the 12:15 Mass on Tuesday, November 1 for the Feast of All Saints' Day.  All are welcome to join us at Mass.  Please remember that no physical education uniforms should be worn to Mass.

Our annual Scholastic Bookfair is next week!

Setup will begin on Monday, October 24th at 7:30am.  Sales will begin at 9am - 2:30pm.  The schedule for class visits is still being finalized.

Sales continue on each school day from Tuesday, October 25th through Thursday, October 27th from 9am to 1pm each day.  These days are all 12:45pm dismissals due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Shop the bookfair for new releases, favorites, and great classics! Proceeds directly benefit our school.

Volunteers are needed to help students shop and to run the cash register.  Click here to sign up to volunteer.

Parent/Teacher Conferences for students in grades 1 -8 will be held next week from Tuesday, October 25 - Thursday, October 27.

Each of these days will be a 12:45pm early dismissal for all students.

PreKindergarten Enrichment is available AND WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT AFTERCARE WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 6PM.  THERE IS A SPECIAL FEE SCHEDULE & RESERVATION FORM FOR STUDENTS IN K-8 DUE TO THE ADDITIONAL LENGTH OF THE AFTERCARE PERIOD.

CLICK HERE FOR CONFERENCE DAY AFTERCARE FOR STUDENTS IN K-8.  PreKindergarten students should reserve using the regular reservation calendar since they will be transitioning from Enrichment and will not be using the longer care period.

****PLEASE NOTE A MINIMUM OF 10 FAMILIES IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THIS AFTERCARE***  At this time, only one family has reserved conference after care.

Please click here to schedule your conference(s).

Kindergarten Conferences will be held in January from Tuesday, 1/17/17 - Friday, 1/20/17.  These conferences will be scheduled during the school day and will not be early dismissal days.  A Sign-Up Genius will be provided when the timing is appropriate.

Important Calendar Note - Please note that Friday, October 28, is also a 12:45pm Early Dismissal but will have NO PreKindergarten Enrichment or Aftercare because it is a Faculty In-Service meeting not conferences.

Halloween is Coming!
In an effort to have a little fun and build community among our students, we will allow everyone in the building to dress up for Halloween on Friday, October 28.

Here are our parameters:

- no clowns
- no weapons
- no masks or face makeup
- no high heels (especially high heels that come with princess attire)
- each grade or group of grades will determine the time that students will wear the costumes; some might change in school and some wear them to school - please follow your child's teacher's instruction.

Parties are only allowed in PreKindergarten and Kindergarten.  These classroom parties may not involve food.

Halloween Pumpkin Bingo will take place on Mon., 10/31, during the lunch waves.

"Treat" for a neighbor in need.  Again this year, our school will participate in the Jack Bannon "Turkey Trot" non-perishable food drive.  We would like to encourage all students to bring a non-perishable food donation to school on Halloween, 10/31, as a treat for a neighbor in need.  Collection boxes will be located in the primary unit and the middle school and also outside the school office.  Turkey Trot donations will be accepted until Friday, November 4th.
