SMS News for the Week of 12/22/2021

News of this week!

Fun-Service Fridays (Thursday) December!

Tomorrow 12/23/2021 wear red or green tops, PE bottoms and Christmas accessory!!! To participate in this day students need to bring in 3 non perishable food items. These items will go to the Simsbury food pantry.

St. Mary’s School would like to acknowledge the St. Mary’s School Trust for once again providing our students with $25,000 in tuition assistance grants. Since its founding in 1994, the Trust has provided over $330,0000 of tuition support to the families of St. Mary’s School. This year’s funding comes through the generosity of the following grants:

The Margaret & Jacob Mesar Memorial Grant

The Steve & Laura Oleksak Memorial Grant

The Reverend William E. Dudack Memorial Grant

The Francine M. Sider Memorial Grant

The gifts help to keep our student body thriving. We appreciate the support the Trust has given us over the years. If you would like to contribute to any of the named scholarships or the Trust’s general fund, you can contact Richard Sider at r.sider@cox.net.

Community Impact

Exciting military promotion in our SMS community

A military promotion is a significant achievement in a service member’s career. It’s a testament to their commitment, mastery of duties and skills, and to the service member’s leadership capabilities.

Earlier this month, one of our families' parent was recognized and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. He is Commander of the 14th Civil Support Team. His children and wife pinned him during the ceremony.

Congratulations and thank you so much for your dedicated service!

Christmas Cards special delivery

Last week, our Principal, Mrs. Williamson had the opportunity to deliver the beautiful Christmas cards our students made during the Christmas Camp to the members of the Simsbury Senior Center. The art produced in our school is having a great impact in our community.

Special thanks

Lessons and Carols

The traditional Lessons and Carols presentation was a success! Even with a touch of pandemic precautions, St. Mary's Church was filled with the Christmas spirit and a sense of community.
Special thanks to our teachers and staff - for all the hard work and effort to make this event a successful one. Thank you to our attendees for being active and supporting members of our school. And to our students - they are the heart and the reason of our efforts.

If you missed the presentation, the recording is available in the St. Mary's Church website, in the "Livestreaming" section: https://stmarysimsbury.org/live-streaming.
Click the "play" icon, go to "Previous Broadcasts" and look for the event with 12/20/21 date (01:47pm)

Gr. 8 lead the presentation

Kindergarten and Gr. 1 angels and shepherds.

Last but not least, we want to wish all our families and community a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed 2022!!

Kind regards,
St. Mary's School
