IOWA Testing begins for students in grades 3 -7 on Tuesday, April 30th.

From Tuesday, 4/30/19 through Tuesday, 5/7/19, students in grades 3-7 will be taking the IOWA Tests of Basic Skills. While these tests are one important indicator of a student's academic progress, we do strongly encourage you to help your child(ren) approach these tests with a positive outlook of relaxed confidence. Unlike many regular assessments, these tests cannot be "studied" for and the best preparation for them is a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast.

Students that may feel anxious should be reminded that these tests are just one measure of progress. Please also keep in mind that it is very important for students to arrive at school PROMPTLY by 8:40AM on IOWA testing days. Late arrivals will not be permitted into a classroom if the testing has begun until there is a break. Additionally, we ask that you try to avoid scheduling doctor and dentist visits during the testing period. Students cannot be called out of class during a testing period and no announcements will be made into classrooms during testing.

Grandparents' & Special Person's Day- including May Crowning - is Right Around the Corner - Friday, May 10th!  Again this year, are looking forward to welcoming grandparents and special people to school for their special morning!  Look for more details next week but the event is schedule for Friday, May 10th.  Guests are invited to arrive in time for morning prayer and light refreshments and will have an opportunity to visit classrooms before transitioning to the beautiful May Crowning hosted by our second grade.

Campus Connection Update!

Our Parish Connection Project is coming to completion. Please note that even though the final paving is now complete, parking lot striping is still underway and we continue to use the north door as our temporary main entrance.  When we are ready to begin using the new parking area and new main door, we will notify everyone. The new building will be called The Magowan Center in honor of Kathleen Magowan who gave the parish a substantial bequest some years ago.

The Parish Religious Education Office will be housed in a newly furnished area of the Lower Church called The Forcucci Faith Formation Center, in honor of Anna Forcucci who also left the parish a substantial bequest. On Sunday, June 2, at the 11:00 AM Mass, Archbishop Blair will dedicate our new facility.

Donors will be recognized on a Memorial Banner in the Magowan Center. If you have not contributed to our project, there is still time to do so. Stop by the Parish Office with your contribution or send it by mail with the designation “St. Mary’s Campus Connection.”

The new building provides our school and parish with (1) an elevator that makes St. Mary’s church handicap accessible, (2) more parking with an access road that connects the south and north parking lots, (3) new rooms that will be used by parish and school, (4) a spacious gathering area where we can socialize before and after Mass, (5) a new baptistery and reflection space; (6) a beautiful rosary patterned floor with all the mysteries of the Rosary; (7) stained glass windows from St. Bernard’s, our mother church, (8) new Parish Office and Religious Education space.
